Surfer's Path Half Marathon

Welcome to the Surfers Path Half Marathon, an exhilarating 13.1-mile journey from Santa Cruz to Capitola and back. Commencing at the iconic Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, the event embarks on an eastward expedition along the captivating coastline. Runners are treated to a scenic tour, passing by notable landmarks including the Santa Cruz Harbor, Moran Lake, and the renowned Pleasure Point before navigating the turn-around loop through the picturesque Capitola Village. The course features ocean front views of world famous surf breaks, leading to the triumphant finish on the pristine shores of Cowell’s Beach.

Registration

 

Registration includes access to an amazing coastal course, chip timing and bib, custom finishers medallion, commemorative event shirt, course management and support and post event refreshments. Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. If for any reason the event can not take place in-person it will be produced virtually. If you can not participate in the 2024 event, please write to us following the event and your event shirt will be mailed to you. Medals are for finishers only.

Race Day Bib Pick-Up

Those unable to attend packet pick-up on Friday or Saturday, may pick up their bib race morning for $10.

Start Location

On Beach St. and the corner of Cliff St. across from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Arcade located at 400 Beach St, Santa Cruz, CA 95060.

7:00am sharp!

Directions to Start Line
  • From Hwy 1 or Hwy 17

  • Exit at Ocean Street heading south

  • Right on San Lorenzo Blvd.

  • Left on Riverside Ave.

  • Right on 2nd Street

  • Left on Cliff St

  • Left on Beach St.

  • Enter Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk parking on left

  • Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk parking is $25 all day

  • Metered parking in surrounding area.

  • Free parking in surrounding area. Be sure to read parking signs posted in all areas since there are restrictions every day of the week.

Finish Line

 

The Finish Line for both events is located at Cowell’s Beach at 109 Beach St. Santa Cruz 95060, adjacent to the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf entrance and a short walk from the Start Line and all suggested race day parking areas.

 

Course Management

 

The course is managed at a 15 minute per mile pace. If you are passed by the event crew, you will be asked to move onto the sidewalk. Once you are on the sidewalk, you must follow all traffic laws deemed by the County of Santa Cruz.

Aid Stations

 

Aid stations will be located approximately every two miles offering water and electrolyte fluids.

 

Restrooms

 

There will be restrooms at the start, at each aid station, the turn around in Capitola Village and at the finish line.

 

Sweat Check

 

There will be a sweat check area near the Start/Finish line courtesy of Kennolyn Camps. 

 

Finish Area

 

Post race activities take place on Cowell’s Beach. Participants pick up their surf inspired event shirts, receive post race food, and enjoy the finish celebration!

 

Medals & Awards

 

Each half marathon finisher will receive a commemorative finisher’s medal at the Finish Line.

Awards will be provided to the top three finishers in the following age groups:

  • 19 and Under

  • 20-29

  • 30-39

  • 40-49

  • 50-59

  • 60-69

  • 70+
