Surfer's Path 10k/5k

The Surfer’s Path event offers both a 10k and 5k race, providing participants with an opportunity to engage in a scenic run or walk along the captivating coastline. The starting point is located on 41st Ave, at the gateway to Pleasure Point  where surf shops, restaurants, and the coastal ambiance converge, epitomizing the renowned surf culture of the region. The course leads participants onto the picturesque East Cliff Drive, offering breathtaking views of the expansive Monterey Bay. Journeying along this scenic route, participants will encounter the iconic Harbor Lighthouse before reaching the turnaround point at Twin Lakes Beach. Following the turnaround, the route takes participants back, allowing them to relish the coastal beauty while passing by famed surf breaks and sandy beaches. The culmination of the race is a triumphant finish in the heart of Capitola Village, adding a touch of charm to the overall experience. The event caters to both 10k enthusiasts and those opting for a 5k, ensuring that all participants can partake in the vibrant atmosphere and natural beauty of this coastal adventure.

Race Day Parking

The Surfer's Path 10k/5k courses are designed to maximize coastal views and offer optimal turn around locations. To accomplish this, the start and finish areas are set in two locations, less than a mile apart. We recommend parking mid-way between the start and finish and enjoy a short pre-event warm up and post event warm down. There is plenty of free, on-street parking between the start and finish areas.

If you are planning to be dropped off near the start line, drivers can continue to Capitola Village parking lots above Capitola Village and the finish area. Access to Beach and Village Parking Lots 1 & 2 (Upper and Lower) is on Capitola Ave, Bay Avenue and Monterey Avenue. Parking costs for these lots is $0.50 an hour for up to 12 hours.

There is NO PARKING in business lots located along 41st Ave between Melton Street and Court Drive, and on Portola Drive, between 36th Ave and Adriene Way. Vehicles will be subject to posted parking restrictions at these locations.

Course Management

The course is managed at a 20 minute per mile pace. If you are passed by the event crew, you will be asked to move onto the sidewalk. Once you are on the sidewalk, you must follow all traffic laws deemed by the County of Santa Cruz.
